Hank Mobley was the prototype of the perfect artist for Blue Note in the 1960s. On this album – masterfully remastered from the original 1965 analog master – Mobley is joined by trumpeter Lee Morgan, trombonist Curtis Fuller, pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Bob Cranshaw and finally drummer Billy Higgins. In addition to “A Caddy for Daddy” – the engaging title track – the program includes three lesser-known but excellent originals and finally a piece by Wayne Shorter “Venus Di Mildew”. This classic by Hank Mobley is finally available in a digital version far superior to those available on the market until today.
