Gary Martin - We Get Down

Some 11 years have now passed since Tektonika Records founder Gary Martin, one of Detroit's lesser-celebrated techno mainstays, first unleashed 'We Get Down'. As this fresh edition of the cult classic proves, it remains a fine piece of work. You'll find his original mix, a hypnotic chunk of Latin and Afro-tinged techno peppered with jacking drum fills, atmospheric spoken word snippets, layered percussion and marimba style melodies, tucked away at the end of side B. Before then, we get two fresh passes: a rubbery and bouncy, house-style take from Berlin's youANDme that makes the most of Martin's original elements, and a throbbing, disco-tinged jacking techno re-make from Motech main man (and sometime Underground Assistance associate) DJ 3000.
