Edison Machado was one of Brazil's great drummers, a key figure in the Rio scene of the 1960s whose feel and precision underpinned some of the finest bossa nova and samba jazz recordings of the era. This record, recorded with Boa Nova, is a showcase for everything that makes Brazilian jazz of this period so compelling — light, swinging, deeply melodic, with an intimacy that feels like it was recorded in the room next door.
It sat out of print for years before being reissued, and it's exactly the kind of record that rewards digging. If you love Jobim, João Donato or early CTI Records, this belongs in your collection.
