Label Spotlight: We Play House Recordings
Share
We Play House Recordings is a Belgian independent house music label founded in 2008 by DJ/producer Red D as a personal outlet for the music he loves to play. The label’s ethos is rooted in a purist, non-trend-driven view of house music — there are no sub-genre borders like tech or deep house for them, just good house music that makes people dance.
It began with releases from Red D’s friend San Soda and quickly grew into a close-knit family of artists from Belgium and beyond, all united by a shared love for analogue warmth, groove, and timeless rhythm. Vinyl is central to the label’s identity, with many releases prioritised and celebrated in physical form first, reinforcing a focus on quality sound, design, and dancefloor energy.
Over the years, We Play House Recordings has become a respected name in underground house circles, known for championing both established producers and emerging talent without chasing hype. Its catalogue reflects a broad yet coherent spectrum of house sounds — from raw, dusty grooves to more melodic and soulful expressions — all selected through the personal taste of Red D and his extended circle.
San Soda — One of the label’s origin artists; his early work helped launch the imprint and remains emblematic of its aesthetic.
FCL — Belgian house duo (with Lady Linn often featured), known for soulful, vocal-driven house tracks released on WPH.
Dynamodyse — Deep, jazzy house producer with several releases on the label; also records under the SRF Inc. alias.
Kiani & His Legion — Belgian artist with a distinct melodic and emotional house style featured on several label releases.
Metrobox — Berlin-based DJ/producer with both solo work and vocal-infused tracks through the WPH family.
